Officials of the National Youth Service Corps have been urged to acquaint themselves with the new technological trends that would ensure online data integrity and security.
The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim stated this in Abuja during a training workshop on NYSC Integrated System organised for NYSC State Coordinators in the thirty-six states of the country including FCT.
He said there is the need to harness the enormous benefits of Information and Communication Technology for the enhancement of NYSC operations.
The DG added that the innovative deployment of ICT solutions, which commenced some years ago has not only revolutionized NYSC operations, but also helped in entrenching transparency and accountability.
He urged the workshop participants to utilise the opportunities of the workshop to equip themselves for more effective discharge of their duties on the NYSC Integrated System platform. “Innovations involving ICT application require painstaking efforts for better understanding of the operations procedures”. “Area Coordinators are also mandated to monitor the activities of secretariats on the portal”, the DG added.
The workshop with the theme; “Enhancing the roles of State Coordinators on the NYSC Integrated Platform”, was designed to provide appropriate leadership for effective execution of digitalization process at NYSC State Secretariats.
In her introductory address, the Director, ICT, Mrs Christy Uba said the introduction of NYSC Integrated System in 2014 has greatly simplified the various operations of the Scheme. “Activities such as Mobilization process, deployment, monitoring, relocation, production of ID cards, pre-camp clearance of foreign-trained graduates, printing of certificates of national service among others that occur on the eNYSC platform has brought about efficiency,” Uba said.
